Not every home is set up for traditional ductwork. Older homes, additions, converted spaces, detached rooms - these situations come up all the time, and running ducts just isn't always practical or even possible. That's exactly where a ductless mini-split makes a lot of sense.
We installed an Innovair ductless mini-split outdoor unit on the exterior wall of a home with limited space to work with. The area was tight, with a concrete ledge right at ground level and a wrought iron railing just a few feet away. Despite the constraints, we got the unit mounted cleanly and securely - level, solid, and positioned for proper airflow.
The line set and wiring are run through a vertical PVC line hide that keeps everything organized and protected against the elements. The disconnect box is mounted directly to the wall above the unit, making future service calls straightforward. Everything is tucked in and tidy - nothing hanging loose, nothing improvised.
That's the thing about a well-done mini-split install. It's not just about getting the unit running. It's about making sure it's safe, serviceable, and installed in a way that lasts. These systems handle both heating and cooling, so this homeowner now has year-round comfort in a space that had none before - without touching a single duct.
Ductless systems are a genuinely smart solution when the layout of a home makes traditional HVAC impractical. If you've got a room or space that never gets comfortable, a mini-split might be exactly what you're looking for.
